Some quick studies.
I've had the chance to go to a Quick Studies workshop this semester since I'm finally living in the city. It's really cool and I believe super beneficial to me since I am going down the path of illustration. I'm a big fan of speed and I want to get a lot faster. From everyone I heard that's in the same situation as me in terms of what I like and want to do, they all say go to the Quick Studies workshop. Here are some samples of what I did last night. Just a few. I'm tired of uploading every single page I did during the session on every other online venue. Here's one, two, three, and five minute samples.

More quick sketches and first portrait painting.

Here are some ten minute sketches I did at a workshop today. It was one of the fashion workshops at my school. I usually go to the illustration and fine arts workshops we have, but I wanted to try a workshop on Tuesday nights. Not as great as the illustration and fine arts ones, but it's good enough. Oh and another big reason I went is because all the cute girls at my schools are fashion majors haha.

This painting drove me nuts!!! I'm pretty new to painting and this was my first true portrait using oils. Took me like three weeks and seven or eight workshops just to get it to this level. Yeah I'm slow as heck. Quite frustrating, but I'm anxious to get better!!! I didn't have time to do the details in her jacket and she still looks too tan...almost sun burnt!

Sorry for the absence.
Yeah it's been a while since I posted. I've still be drawing for the most part, but I guess I've gotten kind of lazy at updating this thing. But ever since I moved into the city closer to my college I've been inspired to draw more and more...so that means more updates. Yay. For now here are a couple of sketches I did in my sketchbook. Nothing too special, but I thought I'd post them up here. One I did in blue prisma color which was the first time I used that medium to sketch extensively. It was 40 minute pose and the model was pretty good. The other one was just some random sketches on the bus and subway, but I think I'm going to try to put more and more of my sketchbook stuff on here. See how it works out.

This one was special.

This was an illustration I did of my friend for her upcoming birthday. Took me quite some time to finish because I was really slow with everything. I wanted to try and be as accurate as I could. Especially since I wasn't working from that great of a photo. There are still some things I see in it that I don't like, but I tried my best within the time span. I had to send it to her quickly so that it will arrive around the time of her actual birthday. The tools I used on this one were various forms of charcoal pencil, compressed charcoal, and I did the highlights with a white charcoal pencil.
